Your Mom and you and your family are in Jen's and my thoughts and prayers. While I can't imagine what Alzheimer's disease is to deal with in either a family member or at a personal level - please know you, she and her family is not alone...

Have Comfort that the time of Passing Will Raise the Veil of the Mind and She Shall be Whole and Free of any Pain and Sorrow Once Again.

Tom,

Our prayers are with you and your family. My mother passed away in'99. She had Alzheimers for 10+ years and regressed sharply at the end. I know your pain. I lost my mom when she didn't know me or anybody else which was years before the end. It is a cruel disease.

Sorry it took so long for me to check in to the forum and find this thread...

May God comfort you and your family in your loss as He gently places your Mother in his hand for eternity... She will be in good company with those mothers who have preceeded us in this transition to our final reward... mine included.

I will pray that she will pass gently my friend.

All,

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers; it really means a great deal to me.

Was notified by hospice this PM that Mom has entered the stage known as "Terminal Agitation". I suspect God is making his plans known. The nurse says that this is a 3-4 day process. Will be headed to Georgia Friday.

I believe that the end of her journey is at hand.

Mom passed away quietly 1200 o5/05/05 and was buried yesterday.

I thank all of you for your prayers and kindness during this particularly difficult time.

Tom, I am afraid from the state of my own Mothers health and condition I am soon to travel on the trail you have just passed. She has been a big part of my life and I can empathize with your grief. Thanks you so much for your understanding and kind words.

I can only counsel you to let the grief take it's course. The pain you will feel is the visceral, deep in your core, pain that you last felt many years ago in SEA, when a bud got waxed.

I believe it is good to go through the grieving process with openness. I had my tears and I felt as tho my heart was being ripped out. Afterwards, after the viewing, after the friends and the visitation, after the wonderful funeral, after the coffin was closed forever, when all were gone from the gravesite, I gave a little "shave and a haircut, two bits" knock on the coffin, as I had done on her front door for many years , and said, "Bye, Mom. See ya' down the road."

And this chapter ends.
