Smile Takedown Lever Repair by "policeluger"

About 2 years ago I bought a 1918 DWM which had been salt blued and had a mangled takedown lever. Someone had already tried, unsuccessfully, to repair the lever, but it still looked terrible. The gun was in excellent mechanical condition otherwise. I replaced the takedown lever and sent the gun to Thor for refinishing. It came back looking as if it had just popped off the production line.

However, the mismatched takedown lever always bothered me, and I almost threw the mangled original in the trash, but somehow it remained in my parts box.

Recently Ed Tinker posted an item about a takedown lever repair by "policeluger" and I remembered the damaged original lever for my 1918.

I sent it to Howard who did a beautiful repair job and restrawed the part. It is now mounted on a completely restored and matching 1918 DWM, and it looks great.

Thanks, Howard.
