KIAU. is the German abbreviation for Gouvernement Kiautschou (Chinese is "Kiaochow" which is in the Shantung district). The Germans occupied this location in 1898 and garrisoned elements of the III Seebataillon there until 1914. __________________ If it's made after 1918...it's a reproduction
