Kenneth, my first Luger was also a 1917 Erfurt about 900 s/n's up from yours. They're neat old guns--'kinda rough and industrial grade compared to most other Lugers. Mine has matching numbers, but it was in pretty sad shape otherwise. I finally made the decision to turn it over to Thor, and what a difference! Now my Erfurt looks (and functions) like it did when it left the factory. The next thing you need to do is get a second Luger, and then you can spend hours comparing the subtle differences between the two. When you do this, the rough tooling marks that the Erfurts are known for really stand out. My Erfurt shoots pretty well when it wants to, but I get most of my enjoyment from just handling it and showing it to others. As you can tell from the "advanced cases" who already posted, this Luger stuff never stops. Enjoy!
