Default 1914 commercial

I know the chamber dates aren't commercials, but where it was stamped Germany (which was for export, right) and the 1914 date nearly buffed out, did they had to change barrels to 30 luger cal in order for it to be exported in the 20's? The barrel was numbered to the gun other than toggle. The guy was sure it was a 30 luger cal.
