both green label and blue label guns are/can be pre-ban, in that they have the ugly gun requirements, i.e. pistol grip, high cap mag And the dreaded bayonet lug and flash suppressor. post ban guns did away with the lug and flash suppressor (the law read that it had to have 'any 3' of the above). a green label gun is pre 1987 and is actually very close to an m-16 most 6600 model series and some 6700 model series ARs were green label. the blue labels have a sear block in the lower receiver that prevents the M16 sear and selector switch from being installed, whereas the green labels have no such block and the class 3 parts are drop in ready. blue labels are post 1987. the ban went into effect in 1993 and will sunset this year if we can keep the liberals out of it. Chances are your SP2 is a blue label and contains the sear block. auto sears were readily available in the 1980s but I haven't seen one in years. Used to be you could purchase them at most gun shows "unregistered" for about $100.00 -- not that I know anyone that had or has them now.
