U. S. Commercial Holster ??

Any ideas on what would be correct holster for 20-30 era commercial luger and where to find one or repro. Thanks David. pic would be welcome.

David, I am not sure what an American made holster would look like, but if it was a German holster of that period it would probably be unmarked and the top flap would be secured similar to the Police type holster. Also, the buckle type would be correct too. If, by chance, it would be marked, it would be with the maufacturers name and/or logo. Hope this helps a little.

Normally the US commercially made holsters for the Luger did not follow the design of the German military holsters. They look more like your typical US holster, but were made expressly for the Luger. H.H.Heiser of Denver, Colorado made several styles of holsters for the Luger, and are somewhat collectible today.

I've seen many types of holsters that were available in the 1920s & '30s for commerical lugers. The types most books show are the regular WW1 surplus military holsters marked (usually on the back) "Germany", for export to the US. As mentioned above and in Gene Bender's "Luger Holster & Accessories", many US firms including Heiser, Ronstat, Abercrombie & Fitch, Audley, Lawrence, Myers, Stoeger, Von Lengerke & Antoine, amoung others offered holsters for the various barrel lengths of lugers. The ones that are maker marked are definately sought after by collectors.

El Paso Saddlery in ElPaso, Texas makes a nice reproduction Holster for the 1900 American Eagle. They don't have a website as of yet but you could probably find their phone number on the internet.
