Actually, now that I have thoughty about it for a minute (its been a while since I shot my shiny gun) its not just the sights. The angle of the toggle tail (down to the toggle stop) is such that it reflects light directly into your eyes. I suppose that blackening would take care of that too, but it begins to defeat the whole shiny-gun ppurpose.
