Pete,

Nothing to be sorry about. I am not overly dismayed at missing out on this holster. I do not have a Dutch Navy, but it is conceivable that in a weak moment I might be temped to acquire a nice example for the right (cheap!) price to add to my Dutch collection. It would fit in with acquiring early contract Lugers, my secondary criteria for collecting. My Dutch collection currently consists of an M11 Second Contract (August 1912) with the Crown/W, â??Wilhelminaâ?, proof on the right side, a Third Contract (December 1913) with the Crown/W proof on the left side, a KOL (yes, I finally replaced the one I sold you!), and a Vickers. I also have a rather nice KNIL holster with proper cleaning rod. I was interested in the Navy holster since it is a particularly nice example of a Dutch holster, and I might have one day paired it up with a Dutch Navy Luger.

A neat aside note: My Second Contract has exactly the same serial number, 1714, as the Dutch Navy shown in Martens & deVries on page 145, having a DWM toggle but delivered by Mauser! That would be a nifty Dutch Navy to add to my collection (fat chance!).
