Post cdg 4

I see an interesting holster over on ebay that is marked cdg4.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...EBWA%3AIT&rd=1

I have seen or seen pictures of two of these before.

One is in Benders' book and, from what I can tell from the photogrtaphs, it does not appear to be marked with a WaA marking or with 'P08'.

The other was at the SE NAPCA meeting last fall, and it ws marked WaA101 and also was marked with "P08". Both of thse markings were fairly obvious.

Both types are legit?

CPW, Luger holsters are generally only marked "PO8" if produced after 1940. TH

Is there any documentation to substantiate what the seller posted about this holster and its connection to 1944 HK lugers ?

" There is a high probability that these holsters were issued with 44 dated Kreighoffs. "

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Hi Pete.... A lot of speculation has followed all the different Luger accessiories... but I believe you can file "high probability" along with these other famious quips! "as far as I know" and "to the best of my knowledge!" These two are generally used just prior to closing the deal! Without documentation...it is all...you know... As far as I know, this is reasonably accurate information, although I am no expert in this filed, and could possibly be wrong, but to the best of my ability and the best of my knowledge, blah, blah...

How's that sound for my next e-bay item I sell G.T.???

Here is a nice reply I received from the holster seller :

" I personally have never found any concrete evidence to support my opinion. However, in discussing this over the years with many of my collector friends we all seem to feel that it highly possible that 44 dated holsters were for the Kreighoff pistols. It is a reasonable conjecture in that no lugers other than kreighoffs were being manufactured at that time. However, it is possible that they were for the 42 BYF's that were being assembled from existing store. Like so much of what we often arrive at..it is generally someones opinion. One thing that is a fact ...the 44 dated or un-dated Luger holsters are very rare. "

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />
