Post Help on ID

Being a new member, please bear with me.
I am the proud owner of a 9mm luger and have been for 45 years. This gun has been my side arm on many a hunting or fishing trip. WHAT A PLEASURE TO SHOT.
I will try to explain all the markings, then maybe some one can tell me about it and an approx. value.
on left side rear, stamped P.08
on top of action front stamped-42 rear of action stamped -byf
on right side of action are three eagles, the back 2 have -135 stamped below them.
under barrel, stamped 7180, all other parts matching.
original blue 80/85 % No rust, or pitting.
Have 2 clips marke P.08, but can not find a serial # thanks ,John

You have a byf (Mauser last Luger code) manufactured in 1942, the last year of "official" manufacture. In the condition you cite, it will have little collector value but should be useful to you in the future as it has been in the past...a fine service pistol.

The 42 equals 1942, while the byf is actually Mauser, in the city of Oberndorf, Germany.

A shooter Luger is worth $450-$550, yours probably a bit more, an extra magazine is worth around $85 - $125, unless both magazines are numbered and match the gun, then even in its condition, would be worth more.
I'd like to see pictures?

Also, your 80-85% condition isn't that bad and could be worse or could be better than stated, I would be happy to help post any pictures.

Georg Luger made the design better, the company that made it was DWM, then Mauser, everyone calls it either a Parabellum or a Luger.

It's a luger, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

You can go to general information on your left and read some more if you'd like. No trouble, more questions is just fine. If you irritate us, we'll just not answer! And that isn't likely,
