Hi Guys:

I have read that the number of model 1914 Navy's was smaller than previously published. A lot of books say 35,000 to 40,000 were built. Based on the number of Navy personnel, the 35 to 40k would have been to high according to the article I read. Based on the number of authentic model 1914 Navy's, I would agree that fewer were made than book writers have estimated. I do not know just how many model 1914's were actually made so I am not the person you should be asking. The model 1914 was made in 1917 and 1918 and were dated 1916 and 1917. As I recall, some order was cancelled as the reason fewer were made. I'll look in my books again to see if I can find out where I read that.

A few of us have spent some time studying the model 1914 Navy in some detail. Many of us now know the differences between authentic model 1914's and those that wished they were authentic.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Dan
