Post Pipe dream

Suppose I went to a small gunshow, and bought a really ratty Luger for 250 bucks? O.K. no big deal. Suppose this gun had an unusualy large bore, and the serial # was 1? What would this gun be worth?

Whatever someone was willing to pay!

My dream is to go to an estate sale and buy a foot locker with a couple of 1901 Test Luger Holsters, a test Luger and a Bannerman catalog.

(or in the footlocker was a "larger" bore Luger pre-production piece picked up by PVT Smith in 1945...)

So what do people think happened to the .45 U.S test Luger that they supposedly used up and threw away? When I'm not dreaming of girls, fast cars, or other guns, sometimes I fantasize about finding it.

You'll probably all think less of me for what i'm about to say but, if i came to own the lost but not forgotten .45 i would take it to the range and find out what it feels like to shoot it.

Hey, it was a "test luger". I'd want to pop a few caps too, afterall Mr. Jones did, as did the Guns and Ammo editor, so what the heck... <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
