Post about grips.

are all grips without markings inside fake? and is it true that when you can move one of the grips up and down they are also fake(the safety side)?

No, I would not say that.

Especially since there are so many era's for grips. Also newer repro grips (you could say fakes) are not as well made.

From what I know, original grips usually have stampings or acceptance marks, this might be something like Eagle 655 or the serial number or last two of the serial number. On the collector guns I have or have had, one was E/655, one has the serial number and the others do not have stamps, but I do not feel they are repros or fakes, as in all appearances they are period grips.

I think there are many factors to take into account;

age, markings, stamps, look and feel to the grips and then you decide if they are period, original or fake.

Sverre, your question is difficult to answer until you identify the pistol and grip type.

If you are talking about your black widow, the grips are unmarked on the inside and could be a bit loose, because of the material shrinkage. If your black bakelite grips are original, each should contain a threaded hole on the inside that fits the threads of the grip screw. CAUTION: if you insert a screw in the threaded holes, they may chip the grips, so be really careful!!!

Most wood grips are marked with the last two digits of the serial number pressed into the wood. Some also have an inspection mark or waffenamt stamp. And some aren't marked at all.

Hope this helps!!

Thumbs up

Sverre, the grips appear to be original!! Even though there are some damaged diamonds, they are still prized by collectors. Again congratulations!

Sverre,

I agree with Frank... your grips appear to be genuine for your black widow... Compare them to my grips in the Old Owner's Corner...

Cool

John,

Is that "OLD" Owners Corner, or "OLD OWNERS" Corner? To qualify, do you have to be an "OLD" owner, or do you have to own OLD guns, or both?

I seem to recall that you weren't old enough to have any folders in the OLD Owners' Corner Hugh!

( Editor's note: - for you new folks... the Old Owners' Corner was where we displayed Lugers and accessories in our collections when the Lugerforum was "new" several years ago...the link to get there is on the left frame of the Lugerforum homepage)

And to all you "old" owners of corners, the newer member gallery is really nice, once you register and make a spot on the gallery, you can add, delete, modify YOUR pictures at your whim, and no name is associated with the gallery, so that is nice!!

The only problem with the no name association is when I discover that someone has had serious problems in attempting to use the Member Gallery and I don't know who to help...

Sverre,

Your grips are an excellent example of genuine grips... and your photo in the member gallery will help keep many members from making a mistake by purchasing fakes...
