I have had this Simson in my collection for awhile and the grip screws, which are eagle 6 proofed, have always worried me because they have a much brighter (fire blued?) finish than the blueing on the pistol. The pistol is all matching including magazine SN 270x, and is blank chamber marked. Spare mag is not matching and is eagle 46 stamped. Right side of frame marked with large eagle 6 and small eagle 6 as well as eagle 33. There is a plethora of E6 on just about every part. Overall, a very nice example, but are the grip screws correct or refinished?

Look shiny to me, but I am far from any expert on Simson's.
On the other hand, if I had to have "replacement" items on a Simson, I would rather it was screws than a firing pin, extractor, breechblock etc. Ed

From your pictures the grip screws appear to be 'fire blued' which is correct for that model if my memory serves me correctly. That is a really nice looking Simson. Unfortunately, mine has been refinshed so I can't give any info based upon it other than just about everything on it has the little eagle 6 stamps too.

Grip screws are awfully bright and awfully blue for a Simson. Use your own imagination!

PS, I agree that the fire blue finish is correct for these grip screw, but these look too good. Perhaps someone has "refreshed" the straw and fireblued parts. I too have a couple of E/46 marked Simson mags. According to Costanzo, this inspection mark was only used in 1934 at the very end of Simson production. TH
