I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your friend is way off base in his value estimate.

You will find no better experts than those here on the Forum to give you a ball park value of your gun.

Based on the Photos you posted, there is nothing unique, rare of unusual about your gun that can justify such a high evaluation.

In fact, if the gun were a perfect specimen, (which yours is not) it would not command $3,000+ price tag

Is there something else known about the gun that you did not mention?

I will reserve giving my option of the value, because of the conflict of interest. However, I would invite anyone else who collects early pieces to give their option.
