OT Pearl Harbor review

Saw "Pearl Harbor" tonight. I was a little disappointed but it was still a good movie. The love story didn't bother me but I wish they had not placed so much emphasis on it and instead spent more time on the historical events leading up to the Pearl Harbor attack.

The first half of the movie is slow but quickly picks up with the attack. Great battle scenes, and these make the movie worth watching, even if you don't like the love story. The hospital scenes of nurses tending to the wounded are also awesome. Jon Voight did an excellent job portraying FDR.

I was a little disturbed to see Alec Baldwin portraying Jimmy Doolittle. Isn't he supposed to have left the country since Bush got elected?

One review I read stated "Tora Tora Tora" is better. I haven't seen that one in a while, and I think I'll buy the DVD.

But overall, I enjoyed "Pearl Harbor" and plan to watch it again.

Unfortunately, I don't think he fulfilled his promise to leave the country if W was elected. Another reason he is in this is that this movie was filmed over a year ago before the election took place...

I consider it a travesty that a hero like Doolittle is portrayed by such a guy as Baldwin!

Now that I know Alec Baldwin is in it, I don't want to see it. I don't buy Barabara Streisand CD's either!

Rather than encouraging America's leading dirtbag Alec Baldwin by going to see him in a movie, it has been suggested that you buy a ticket to another movie and then sneak in to see "Pearl Harbor."

Alec Baldwin and Barbara Streisand both said they would leave the country if George Dubya won the election. So far, neither one has followed through. They are both flaming liberals who believe that anyone who owns a gun is a criminal. BTW has anyone noticed that Charlton Heston doesn't get many parts in Hollywood these days?

He is a horses rear! He is outspoken about being AGAINST gun ownership and he has made some outlandish standments regarding harm to Charlton Heston and his family on Letterman! That is enough for me! Thor

Personally, I feel that Alex and Barbera are part of the Liberal, Communist state within Hollywood. I WILL NOT support ANY of these people with my money to see anything they do.

Alec's comments were about Senator Henry Hyde they can be viewed for those that wish to see them at http://www.cnn.com/SHOWBIZ/News/9812/18/showbuzz/ My opinion and distain for this south part of a north bound DONKEY is stronger than ever after rereading his comments.

He is an insult to the fighting men and women of this country. I hate seeing him in a role as a US serviceman. He is very outspoken as a BIG gun grabber as is BS! ~Thor~

John is right.

It certainly is a travesty for him to be playing a true American hero. But if I didn't watch a movie because of an actor whose political views I detest, I probably wouldn't watch ANY movies, as it seems all of the current and even many of the older movies have left-wing liberals in them.

At least Tom Hanks, also a liberal, has been supportive of World War II veterans and effort to establish the WW II memorial.

The most recent movies I recall Charlton Heston having bit parts in were "Tombstone" and "True Lies."

Just got back from the cemetary, put some flowers and flags on my relatives graves. Saw a lot of flags on other vet's markers and it always makes me think. Summing it up, in relationship to this thread, the guys under those flags have nothing in common with today's politicians or entertainers. Hey, how 'bout them Lugers?

You gotta admit that Alex is a great actor, me played a man.Speaking on miss-casting, How about Martin Sheen playing General Robert E.Lee in "The American Civil War"? Although he did do a good job playing a cowardly soldier in 'The Eddie Slovik Story". Whats next, Allen Ada playing "George Patton?
