Post grip serial no.

Could anyone tell me if the grips on a 1936 s\42 have serial no.s ? another thing should the safety bar be gold straw color or is polished
steel original?

Hello Brad m.,
A purist would say the grips should be numbered to the pistol! If they are it removes all questions about originality. I have seen some almost mint 1936-S/42 rigs and the grips were not numbered! If they are not numbered it always leaves the question about their being original to the pistol.
The safety bar should be polished bright metal and not strawed.
