I only own 1 luger (a shooter and a darn good one at that), but lately I have been getting a funny image in my head, a crazy idea if you will, it sort of goes like this!!
I want a 8 inch barrel length luger with a scope on it!!!!!!!!! I know!! you guys think im probably crazy, but the luger has outstanding accuracy and great ergonomics, why not couple that with some state of the art opticts and make a tack driving target demon!!!! as I call it. So since im a novice in the luger knowledge area I want to know if this has been done before and get a little feedback about this idea. I would really like to take this kind of rig to the range and show them 1911 guys a few things. So what does everyone think!! Can this be done?? Should it be done?? or should I seek counseling!!! Beamer; I have tried this, but after you get all the gear on the barrel, the action won"t cycle because of the added weight. I do have one that shoots better than anyone would believe (except sight on it. I made a mount that fits in the military dovetails, but have had trouble with it shooting loose, so am still working on the problem. I also have a Broomhandle Mauser with a 4x power scope on it that shoots better than the Luger. It is in .30 Mauser.

I see that some of my words dissapeared in the above message. Should have read except Dwight Gruber and Rick Wagner and that I used the Dr. Sight, only about one and a half ounces. GREAT with a shoulder stock!!!

Why not add a flame thrower and grenade launcher while you are at it!
Just kidding! Navy Lugers with 6" barrel shoot VERY GOOD for having only open sights. Waffen Werle does some exotic things with Luger pistols!

Lonnie's Doctor Sight is quite a gadget. Anybody who is getting tired of fighting with the Luger's silly regular sights ought to give it a look.

Rick; you need to fabricate one of these mounts as I am having trouble keeping mine tight.

Lonnie,
Use setscrews with loctite... give the mixture a day to set and it shouldn't loosen. How about a photo of your mount?

John; Loctite has not held it so far. I don"t have photo skills, and am lucky I can even do this.

Lonnie,
It isn't that hard... find a friend with a scanner connected to their computer... or a digital camera... If they have any knowledge at all of images they can help. (and you might even spark their interest in Lugers in the process).
