The passing of Joachim GÃ?Â¶rtz

Ladies and Gentlemen,

[img]frown.gif[/img] I would like to formally announce to the Lugerforum that Herr Dieter Marschall, a P-38 expert and historian in his own right, has just advised us that Joachim GÃ?Â¶rtz, his personal friend, and one of the most knowledgable and foremost experts and authors on the history of the Luger pistol has passed away in Munich Germany.

His expertise will be sorely missed by the world's collectors and admirers of this pistol...

Though he never personally posted here on the new forum, members may be surprised to know that Herr GÃ?Â¶rtz was a registered member of the Lugerforum, and I would suspect that he frequently monitored our speculation and comments on the history and authenticity of Luger pistols with much interest...and at times I have no doubt, with a large smile... John, Thanks very much for the post about Joachim Gortz. I wrote many letters to this Gentleman several years ago when I was seeking information on Luger Lanyards. He was very helpful to me and I suspect to any and all American collectors who wrote him. He will be missed by those who knew him or knew of him. Jerry Burney [img]frown.gif[/img]

This is a great loss to the Luger hobby! Although I never knew him personally I will miss him! Rest In Peace Mr. Gortz......You will be missed!
