How much would one expect to pay for an example of one of the middle (blue-label) boxes?

I get $25 to $35 for a box of 16 cartridges, depending on condition. Have a small quantity left, will be listing it on this forum soon.

Good question. I have a quantity of ammo that I will need to unload (mostly wartime or pre-war stuff). Where can I find an idea of prices for such things?
Thanks! |

Hello,
I have read somewhere, but I can't remember where that the lacquered metal case bullets were to be used in the P.38 and the brass case bullets were to be used in the P.08. The reason I remember for this was the metal case bullets caused extraction problems in the P.08. Has anyone else ever come across this information and where did you find it?

The Luger Book by Walter covers ammo quite well. You got it right except for some that they ... now I have to hit the books!

G.W. here is an excerpt I found in The Luger Book by John Walter:
The last paragraph is confusing to me! Oh,I think I understand now, he is talking about brass case cartridges with the mE bullets working fine.

Modern Russian steel cased 9mm works fine in my Luger with 100% reliablity (in the right mag). In fact, it's more realiable than Winchester 9mm for me.

There have been some real bad experiences with overpressure Russian steel case 9 mm reported on this forum (or maybe the old one) a while back. One of them happened to me (locked up my S&W 3914 dead tight). I had to use a hammer to drive a long slender rod up the barrel to open up the gun--the slide couldn't be opened after firing. The case was found to be quite oversized. Fortunately, this was not a Luger and the S&W works fine.
More dramatic cases have occurred with Lugers. I won't touch Russian ammo (anymore).

Thanks Toggle Top,
Walter can get that way, especially when it gets to the fine points of stuff. I personally need to rebuild my references. They were lost. I would like a set of Still's. Although I believe he thinks I discredited him , I hold him in high esteem as an author and reference. Sorry Still, your a professional, and I'm just a tinker. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> |

Just a word of caution re shooting the sintered steel nazi bullet ammo: I had a few boxes that I couldn't legally sell when I lived in Calif, so I decided to shoot them up at the range. I notices that a long "flame" extending from the barrel with the first few shots, as the steel bullets wore away the rifling of my bore. Tom H.
