Angry Bush Is Wrong

I admire greatly US President Bush but I must say he isn't a very good judge of character. It has been reported in the news over here that after their meeting, US President Bush referred to Australian Prime Minister John Howard as a "man of steel". Howard isn't no man of steel, he is a tin-plated dictator who cannot stand the thought of his subjects (a he apparently sees us) being in possession of arms. He has been responsible for the greatest confiscation of privately owned arms in this countries history and now he's at it again!
I attended the range yesterday for what will probably be my last Military Pistol Club competition with my P08. Not only the last shot for the old girl, but the last shoot of that type, period. Under the "man of steel's" new gun laws, those who manage to survive his onslaught will only be able to shoot one of twelve "authorised" competitons and guess what, Military Pistol isn't going to be one of them!
Yes, I am angry, sorry I'll stop ranting now! <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" />

John-M

Find a candidate (for that matter find a BUNCH of candidates) who not only believes but lives the word FREEDOM... back him, support him, elect him and dump that gang that is taking over your island NATION.

and if you have gotten so used to seeing my signature block... read it again slowly... the folks who founded this country chose their words carefully...

I am sure you can find the whole text of the document this came from... This particular section starts with the phrase:

We hold these truths to be SELF-evident...

They can't take from you what you, as a people don't allow them to take...

ORGANIZE and vote them OUT!

(You can have your soap box back now!)

I had been labouring under the impression that you Aussies were subjects of the queen and the prime minister was employed by you to advise the queen or her representative, the Governor General, as to the requirements of the people. He seems to regard himself as a monarch of the bad old school.
Not the first nor the last time a politician has ignored the duties of his office. Here they are required to swear an oath to defend the constitution, but just try and catch one actually doing it.

Guys
Strangely enough, in one of the worlds most free nations, "Freedom" is not a word that Australians talk about very much. Most people are more concerned with the football score, saying 'sorry' to the Aboriginals or saving the dolphins (from what I'm not so sure about).
Patriotism and freedom is NOT alive and well here.

I agree with John-Melb on the man of steel thing though, but jeez, look at his opposition, they make Karl Marx look like a right-winger!!

Not a huge choice of candidates to pick from when it comes to the shooting sports either I'm afraid. Anyone who actually has the courage to stand up for shooters rights or individual responsibility is immediately branded by the media as some kind of hick redneck fascist from deepest darkest Queensland.

Still, it ain't all bad. I'd rather live here than some of the other "civilised" countries.
At least I can still hunt, shoot, fish, drink beer and drive a noisey smokey V8 car that gets 1mpg (complete with whale skin hubcaps)without fear from the thought police, for the time being anyway

Don't worry about President Bush. He is thankful for the help that your brave Aussie military gave us in Iraq. It took courage to back President Bush when everybody was kicking him around.
Otherwise, I feel sorry for the honest Aussie who has to suffer the denial of his guns. Your country is so very beautiful and geographically diverse. It is an example of what we Americans might have to suffer if we continue to allow the liberals to chip away at our freedoms.

Big-Norm, you are the first person from outside Australia that I have heard that has acknowledged Australias efforts in Iraq alongside you guys and the Brits. Well done.
It was a 2000 strong contingent of our Special Air Service (SAS), bad-ass commando guys who punch well above their weight. They did very well over there operating independently many miles behind the enemys front line and sustained not a single casualty.
I feel sorry for the poor souls who were put up against them....

God Bless every fighting man who served to put down that tyrant! Preemptive self defense I heard one liberal call it. Thank you Aussies! There hasn't been a time since WW2 that you didn't stand with us.
