Post Fort Myers Gun Show-1911 with stock.

I stopped in to a show today at the location where I bought my first Luger about 10 months ago. It was a small show (maybe 100-150 tables) at the Shriners temple, not the big 1000 table show at the civic center. Anyway, this was mostly a collectors' show; no jerkey, jewelry, etc. and even very little ammo.

There were about 40-50 Lugers at the show, none that I saw under $700. Not being a collector, I didn't get too excited over the high price stuff. None were bull barrel with S&W sights. There was a custom Mauser with some gold plated parts and ivory grips in a fancy fitted box for $5000.

I took my Frankenluger along as a conversation piece and was offered $25 less than I paid for it. Needless to say, I kept it. If I had sold it, no doubt it would have become an instant police model collectable.

There were about 6 or 7 artillery Lugers with stocks and drums and, GET THIS, a 1911 .45 auto with a Luger type stock and a scope on an Aimtech grip mount. That gun had a 16"+ barrel, I suppose to make it legal if it was legal. Never saw anything like this before. This gun looked standard except for the barrel. I wonder how it worked.

I love going to shows like the one that you described. I would have the time to examine the stocks and the magazines to see if any would match the serial numbers of guns that I own. I always carry a list of stocks and mags that I am looking for. If I found something, you would see me do some of the fastest talking in the world. Sometimes the fun of collecting is in the hunt.
