Talking Great day today! Club got a new thrower.

Ok, really off topic, but I am so excited! The gun club that I belong to finally got our new trap thrower going today after 4 months of work! In short it is the best thing I have ever seen! It is a Pat trap that is fully automatic and has voice activation. The carousel holds 520 birds! Needless to say that we got 150 rounds down range very fast! If you shoot trap it is the best thing out there. On the downside it cost the club about $8000!

Hello Doug <img border="0" alt="[byebye]" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" />

I also enjoy Trap shooting !! Do you shoot American or International Trap ?? Doubles ?? Which shotgun ( s ) do you use ??

If Lugers are expensive to collect, nice doubles Trap guns are prohibitive !!

How does the voice activation work? Do shooters have to have some sort of microphone on themselves to activate it? How does it distiguish from background noise? Isn't it a hinderance to shoot from only one thrower? I am kinda used to having two shacks with a thrower in each.

This does not mean that I am a good shot, as my recent grouse hunting trip will testify to. It just means that I get more excited when I do hit something.

Kidvette we shoot informal American trap. We tried the doubles setting, but found that we will really need some practice! <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

Right now I shoot a Remington 11-87SC with a trap barrel. I sometimes shoot my Tikka O/U sporting clays or the SKB 585 O/U in 28ga. While I enjoy shooting trap I have been bitten bad by the Sporting Clays bug! If anyone has not tried it they should!

Big Norm the voice systems consists of 5 speaker pick-ups. One in front of each shooter. It will not throw when you close your gun or if someone else shoots (rifle shooters on the right). But if you say pull or grunt or even cuss after you miss a bird it will send another flying! I do not know how it works, but it does pretty well. I belong to a club with about 250 members. This thrower replaced a 40-year-old Olin Western manual load. So having one is the equivalent of going from a Yugo to a Porsche!
As for me shooting today..well lets just say not real good! Been in a slump lately, I think my best was a 23 out of 25 on singles.

Since you like trap I will tell you how to make exploding birds! Take a regular clay bird and get some flour. Put a teaspoon in the top and cover with 3" masking tape. When you hit them the make a 3-4' white puff! Very neat and so cheap to make. I have also used colored chalk line chalk; Orange leaves no doubt that you hit!
