I have two Erfurts with the C/RC marks, both 1918. One is numbered 2579g and is marked on the front of the trigger guard, right side of the receiver, and the left side of the bbl. The second one is number 5826r and is marked on the front of the trigger guard, right side of the receiver, and top of the middle and rear toggle links. This gun was rebarreled and proofed in 1965 by the Ulm proofhouse as evidenced by the 65 "antler" on the bbl and the E/N proof on the bbl, left side of the receiver, front and middle toggle links and left frame flat.

I noticed that both of these guns have an additional two digit number not related to the serial number stamped on the inside of the sideplate projection that goes under the takedown lever, with a matching number on the frame just above & to the right of the trigger. Is this common to all Erfurts? Or does it possibly have something to do with the C/RC mark?
