Havng observed witness marks for a while now, I have become curious about a particular aspect of their appearance on WWII Mauser P-08s.
If anyone has a Mauser Luger with a -perfect- witness mark--one tool, one stroke, perfect alignment--I would appreciate it if you would post (or send me) a picture of it which includes the barrel serial number and barrel gage. For anyone worried about revealing a full serial#, it is not necessary to identify the piece by toggle code or year (although that information would certainly be useful), just that it is a WWII military Mauser. I am looking for the characteristics of the serial# and barrel gage markings themselves. Police conversions need not be posted, although original manufacture police weapons might be useful. Thanks very much in advance, to anyone willing to participate. --Dwight |
