Anyway, although off topic of what you are saying, I shot the MG-42 when I got my German bronze medal for shooting (snootzenpher, not spelled like that at all, but "sounds" like that), I shot the machine-gun and it really does rip through rounds. High volume of fire and I was told they had changed but little since 1945? Very fun stuff!
