Default Forum Decorum

I have posted a page in the General Information section, primarily for the benefit of new members, as a guide to the Luger Forum. It outlines what to expect and how to conduct oneself, while getting the feel of the forum as a new member.

This is a work in progress, and I welcome ideas from all members, on thoughts that can be included, or changes to my statements that perhaps could be stated more clearly, or points I've over-looked.

I feel this will be a help to new members who may feel "left out" initially, and help bridge that gap... at least that's my intention... If you have some input, I'd love to hear it!

Dok

Default I have 3 words about your new section....

Excellent, excellent, excellent....

It's so good - I'd like to use it, with your permission, on my sites (I'd have to re-write the "Luger/guns" for "Porsches/automobiles", though...)

Really good, Dok..

Default Re: Forum Decorum

Dok, that is extremely well stated and thought out. It certainly reflects how I feel about the Forum. I think it is a very useful addition and just goes to show why you're the best Webmeister!

Default One other possible point?

As noted earlier this week, the Luger Forum is unlike many others in that it has a separate classified section, something which newbies might not notice. Would the Decorum page be the place to point this out?

Which brings me (ahem) to a question about the classifieds: I recollect that when it was set up, there was a debate on whether it should be strictly Lugers, or encompass other German WWi/WWII era firearms. Given the number of posts here about P.38s and Broomhandles, may/should ads for them be allowed in as well? I would think it would be a great service, since many of the regulars share those interests -- and let's face it, there aren't many alternatives for listing them elsewhere on the web. Of course, we wouldn't want to see the Classifieds to get clogged up with way-OT items.

And Dok: We all can't thank you enough for all the fine work you put into this site. Rest assured, it is well appreciated!

Default It's not that I'm the best...

I was the only one left standing, when everyone else dove into the foxholes... that's called stupidity!

Default Thank you tony, I think that's a valid point...

I will include a paragraph about posting FOR SALE items in the Classifieds and not in the Forum. Also I also think the Classifieds could be expanded to other German military weapons without significant detriment to our primary focus. I'll look into this also. Thank you for your input and kind words, both are much appreciated.

Default OK tony, your suggestions...

have been implemented. The Classifieds have been modified to include a section for Off Topic (OT) Firearms entitled "OT- For Sale/Wanted" (Thank you John D.), and I have updated the Forum Decorum document to mention the Classifieds (where to find them, how to use them). If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to forward them to me directly.
