The models that Johnny mentions were Marushin model kits, which, sadly, are no longer available. They were extremely realistic, and about 2/3's the weight of an original. They fired with either a 7mm or 5mm cap, which was strong enough to work the action. The Marushin kits sold for about $70 for a pistol, up to about $150 for a rifle (they had M-16's and MP-40's).
The Academy model Sanya is asking about is an interesting plastic kit. (I have one of a long barreled P-38). They are usually pretty detailed, but from the pictures, it doesn't look as though there are too many internal parts. It may actually shoot a plastic bullet. The cartridge cases, in some models, had springs and plungers that would force the bullet down the barrel, but I don't know if this is one of those kits. The plastic is pretty light weight, but the finished product is generally good looking, just don't pick it up. $35 for this kit probably isn't too bad, considering it's rarity, but it's probably not all that durable. |
