To be fair to Herr Goering, there were two sides to his personality and leadership. In one book I read years ago, it is suggested that Hermann relapsed onto morphine about 1942 because of war pressures. If true, this would explain his totally different personality from 1939 to 1941. During this time, Goering was a determined and extremely aggressive leader with the mentality of a killer. He was one of the reasons that the German Nazis of WW2 were the most dangerous men of the 20th century. And unlike the other German leaders, he wasn’t afraid or intimidated by the English, as he bombed and blasted them out of France and back across the Channel and attacked them any chance he got. Also, the tone of his homicidal remarks against the British people during 1940-41 has to be read to be believed.
Tacfoley, if you are reading this, my respect for the English people is great, considering the kind of person you and your countrymen were dealing with during 1940-41. Sorry for the OT stuff, but I wrote a one-sided deal in my above post. |
