Ground off stock lug
I may be able to purchase a 1915 DWM, all matching, but the stock lug has been ground off. Any way to restore it?

Jim, in my opinion the restoration would be cost prohibitive and even if you put it back it would still be a refinished gun and not original...
Should you choose to try this, there are two basic methods... both involve welding... Method 1 is to build up the tang of the grip until enough steel is present for a metal craftsman to manufacture a stock lug... Method 2 would be to obtain the relevant portion of a damaged Luger frame and have it welded onto your frame and then dressed down and refinished... Unless the grind job is really ugly... just enjoy this gun as the shooter that it is... otherwise have the grip polished and refinished by THOR if you want it pretty... Well, that's my

Thanks for your opinion. That's pretty much what I figured. I do gunsmithing and one of my best friends is a professional gunsmith and we could do the job for no cost. But considering the work involved it didn't seem worth the time and trouble. Other than the stock lug and some normal wear its a nice gun. I'm figuring I can get it for between $300-$400.

For that price buy it! You then have a nice gun to shoot. If the grind job is rough you can always dress it up so it looks like it came that way.
