Packet,

The trigger lever in the sideplate is a likely source of the trouble but there are other possibilities. My guess is that the sear bar plunger is not returning for some reason. This could by due to a sticking/gummed up plunger, weak trigger spring, or improperly fitted trigger lever.

With the gun unloaded, hold the trigger down, **** the gun (by pulling the toggle back until it cocks and letting it return to battery), and then release the trigger. You should here a slight click when trigger lever releases the plunger. If you don't, the plunger is not releasing.

I have a mismatched shooter that had the same symptoms you describe. After some tinkering I figured out that in its retracted position, the trigger lever was not clearing the plunger. The solution was to polish a little more of a bevel on the back of the trigger lever using a fine Arkansas stone. However, your problem and its solution may be different. Hope this helps. KFS
