Hello Doug,
Sorry for the long silence, I just came home from a trip to Italy. Saw your message, and know how much you must have been longing to my reaction... Well, yes, it is an Erfurt stamped stock, Crown/Gothic S. It is in excellent condition, has a nice medium brown finish on the wood and the blue and straw on the metal is still very nice. No damage at all. Furthermore, it came with the full set of leatherware in very good condition. The holster is marked Wittgen Karlsruhe 1915, and is also unit stamped: B.A.XIV. In the meantime I have found 3 Artilleries which could match the set of leatherware: 1915 DWM #7022 and #1653 and an Erfurt 1914 #686. So I intend to keep the leather. I know you are very interested in the wooden stock. I would certainly have the same feeling! The best thing would be that you offer me a replacement, when possible in the same good condition. In that case we just change stocks. We could also change irons - in that case I do not have to unscrew the leather from the stock, and the wood is apart from the Erfurt stamp not marked to the SN. Please let me know what you suggest.
