Thanks for the help kidvett, they're not too strict here on PEI when it comes to getting a liscence for a restricted weapon it seems, our small population, rural location, and total lack of firearm related crime makes the approval process easier, plus the guy at my local firearms registration office is rooting for me. One person at the office told me "don't bury it in the back yard yet" when he was telling me of some of the grandfathering clauses that may apply to my situation, so I took this as a good sign.
