Sorry George, this part of the forum does not have the capability of uploading a photo directly. That would work if there was a web page you stored the picture on, or if you go as John suggested and upload it on the left link.
After George e-mailed it to me, here are two pictures: ![]()

George, can you take a picture of the top markings.... please? I believe the Russian has crossed rifles.
As a matter of interest, in 1958 or 1959, when Soviet Premier Kruschev visited the US, a mid-West farmer gave Kruschev a wrist watch to replace one that was on the fritz. Asked what he wanted in return, the farmer mentioned that a Russian Contract Luger would be nice. Some months later he received a completely refurbished Russian Contract Luger from Kruschev. I recall seeing pictures of it in the American Rifleman, IIRC. |

Considering what I am used to seeing for writing on the safety, that safety looks like a Monday morning stamping after a looooong weekend.
Very nice to see the crossed rifles and markings! Good pics.

George, thank you for the additional pictures. They're all excellent and show exactly what I wanted to see. A VERY nice Luger, indeed.
Tacfoley, that's a sad story and one I hope I never live to see in the US. |

TAC! where in France? BTW, I can bring a little piece of ( I hope ) useful information, these crossed rifles stamps were stamped on any item that the russian army allowed its personal to buy ( mainly officers ) it was on L¼ger pistols, revolvers, foreign weapons and many other piece of equipment,: compass etc etc ... the suppliers had to apply to get an agreement and items they sold officialy had to wear these stamps.Regards,

Truely excellent photos of a fine example of a russian Luger... I don't think I have even seen a photo of one this nice before!

The above reply should have been much more inclusive. I would love to have the serial numbers of any early russians anyone owned or has recorded over the years. I will share the list with any contributers or interested partys. thanks Bob Benson bpbenson@webtv.net

Hello Bob, the serial number on this 1906 is 456. I asked Ralph about it some time ago and he told me he had gotten it from Robert Hamilton in Virginia. Being a Virginian, I was curious as to who this was, I have never heard of him nor have any of my friends in Virgina.
