Opinions Wanted
I would like it if anyone sees something with this pistol that doesn't look right. I want to purchase it, but due to the terms if it is not a correct gun I am stuck with it. Any opinions will be heard, thanks. Go to "Old Owners Corner", then find "Kyrie", then the "1940 Mauser". Thanks...................Bruce

Bruce,
I can sum up my opinion on this gun with only 4 words: WISH IT WERE MINE.

Herb, you have to go to the LUGERFORUM HOME PAGE... (Link at the bottom of this page) and the link is on the left...
The "Old Owner's Corner" is a remnant of a previous incarnation of the software used for the forum and contains photos of member guns in the same manner as we currently use the Member Gallery today... Unfortunately many of our members that are new in the last couple of years enter the "discussion pages" directly and have no knowledge that we even HAVE a homepage... where there is a very neat animation of the Luger functioning...

Herb, it looks to me like like you have your screen resolution set very low... try bumping it up to 1024x768 and let me know if you can see the link...
in the mean time... here is direct link to that page: http://www.lugerforum.com/lugerowner2.html

The problem with the buying of this pistol is there is no inspection period. All sales are final. Now does it look attractive?!?!?!

Ratdog,
Kyrie has a stellar reputation in the collector community... but I know that you only live a couple of hours from Northern Virginia... if you have reservations about what you are buying, make arrangements to drive down and see the gun... My opinion hasn't changed, but the size of my discretionary bankroll prohibits me from relieving you of the anquish of the decision... I simply can't afford it...

John, that did it, the info is there now but the print is too small and the toolbar went south somewhere off the screen, I hope I can get it back. That's a good looking Luger Kyrie, but like you say no returns, I'd be suspicious.

Well, there are a many people selling their guns that don't want the hassel of going through the trouble of selling the gun, shipping the gun, getting the payment and then having to wait to see if someone still wants it once they get it.
I totally understand the "sales final" warning from a seller. I'm sure he can send you pics, but I know it's not like actually getting to look at everything first hand. I saw this Luger too and the only thing I see that probably didn't belong on the gun originally was the white painted lettering. But, I'm not that knowledgeable on Lugers (I'm just learning on them actually) so who knows. Just ask him and make sure all the numbers match and what not. |

Mini,
The white is done for photo "enhancement" of all stampings. Probably already wiped off from the taking of the original pics..............B |

I was attempting to buy this from the seller, asking questions and gathering info. Seller also was willing to help me buy it over a 30 day period. Only problem, to me, was the "as is" clause, no inspection period. I wrote to him asking for better pics and he wrote back informing me the gun was now on Auction Arms. Oh well, wonder if it's "as is" on there, seller seems to have left that out of the description........................B

Well, I guess the best thing is to find a gun locally that you can physically look at. If you don't feel comfortble with a sale, then don't buy?

ratdog...there are plenty of sellers who will offer a 3 to 5 day inspection, Shattuck/Bessler/River Bend/Simpson. Morris, everone on Auction Arms, LugerDoc, me, Ed Tinker I'm sure, just look around, you'll find the gun you want and within that comfort zone of return rights.

Ratdog et al,
Kyrie (Larry to those who know him) is a genuine prince among pygmies; he would rather be boiled in oil than misrepresent, boost or otherwise fudge on a gun deal. We have been acquaintences for quite some time and he is one of the few people I know who I trust 100%. Tom A. |
