Jammed up Interarms PO-8 Mauser Luger
Hi Folks:
I went to the range today for the first firing of an Interarms Mauser PO-8 Luger. After inserting the magazine and attempting to chamber the first round, the toggle did not close properly, and it did not chamber the first round. Then the toggle would only pull about half way back open, and I could see that the first round was not chambered. But the magazine was jammed and would not drop out when I attempted to release it. So I've got a jammed up Luger and one very frustrated owner. Can anyone tell me a SAFE WAY to unjam the pistol so I can get the magazine and bullets out of the gun so it can be shipped to a competent gunsmith who knows of this problem. And any recommendations for competent Mauser Luger gunsmith would be appreciated. Thanks very much. Sincerely, "Herr" Bert Shoemaker |

Just press hard on the magazine release button. If you can get the magazine out, then everything else will function properly. I like to lock the gun open before I put a loaded mag in. Makes life easier. Or just load it with 5 or 6 rounds. Hand strength is important when operating semi auto pistols. An attribute that we lose as we get older...Sounds like you have the top round jammed against the bottom of the breechblock.

As Gunbugs said press really hard on the Magazine release, but also pull the magazine down with your other hand.
Fail to chamber - be sure you are not trying to load 9mm into a 7.65. Interarms Mausers come in both chamberings but they use the same magazines. The first digits of the serial number indicate chamber 10.xxx is 7.65mm and 11.xxx is 9mm ps. The Interarms Mausers are P-06 rather than P-08. |

Your magazine may be damaged - plan to substitute a different magazine.
Wiggle the magazine bottom while pressing harder on magazine release button. Else, removing the grip panels might give you better access. |

Many thanks to Mac Cat & Kiwi for your helpful information. I will proceed to see if I can get the jammed magazine out of the gun.

Start a new thread of your own. Piggybacking on an existing thread is unlikely to get you the answers you're seeking. Post clear, sharp detailed pictures of your P.38 pistols showing the complete guns and then pictures showing details. Members here are more than happy to help you evaluate your pistols. |
