Default 1915 Artillery Luger

I recently came across an old guy and after talking he told me he had a luger for sale, I told him i would buy it without even seeing it. He brought it and i bought it and this is what i got. I think its really clean. most pics were before i cleaned it. Even came with cleaning tool and mag loader inside of holster. All matching numbers as far as i can see on the gun minus the magazine. What you think its worth? Gonna keep this one.

Das,

The gun appears to have been buffed and hot blued. The grips appear to be aftermarket replacements, and the magazine base suggests that it is also aftermarket. If these observations are correct then it has no collector value. As for market value, several years ago I purchased a 1915 arty in very nice condition that is an upper/lower mismatch but otherwise original (finish, grips) for $1600. I would value this at about the same. I'm sure there will be other opinions.

Das,

There are several tells in the photos. All of the rounded off corners indicate that it has been heavily buffed. The fact that the inside of the frame is not "in the white" indicates that it has been reblued. The shiny black finish indicates that it is hot blued and not rust blued. Although it has no collector value it might be a great shooter.

I agree buffed and reblued. From the pics the holster appears to be a reproduction. Bill

Please share a photo of the magazine and the loading tool, as well.
Both of those may have some collector value.

The refinished LP.08 alone is probably worth $2,000.
The holster kit is about $100 (aftermarket reproduction from China or India - I have one, too!)

The good news is that is a very cool long barreled pistol that should be fun to shoot, without worrying about breaking and replacing parts.

Use standard Target grade FFJ ammunition and avoid any NATO, P+ or "self-protection" labeled high powered ammunition.

Also, the rear sights have a proved to be brittle and rather fragile, so you may want to wrap it with tape.

Have fun with it!
