Posts: 681 Thanks: 374 Thanked 1,227 Times in 414 Posts	I can't seem to find the reference at the moment, but if my memory is correct, the asterisk is a stamp they used to identify a barrel that was rejected, and was sent back for possible rework/correction. I'm pretty sure one of my guns has that mark as well.
