Yup, the Weimar police translation is only one possibility. With a sear safety it could easily be a police issue (I think most police have sear safeties). I wonder why they worried so much about the police (who were supposedly trained)as opposed to the civilian? Admittedly, there weren't many civilians allowed to own firearms in Germany at that time.
