Ed and Frank,
To see the pistol, click on Luger Forum Centerfolds to the left of this message. Then click on the January 2002 image. The medals in the background were awarded to my late father-in-law, who served as an infantryman with the 157th Regiment, 45th Division in WWII. He told me he wanted to get a Luget but never did, so I got one in his memory. According to my math and Ed's list, Lugers 500-9999 would have been manufactured in January 1942, 0001-9999 "a" would have been in February, and 0001-9999 "b" would be March. However, somewhere I read that Mauser numbered guns according to its fiscal year, not calendar year. Has anyone else read that? Thanks, Jerry |
