Post k date saved from destruction

Here are photos of a K date I just picked up ....complete with 1934 Otto Sindel holster...I called a gunsmith to see if he had any lugers....he said he had one but they were going to scrap the barrel and put a 6" one on (to comply with Canadian Law)....I called the night before he was going to do it!!!!....hold it, I said,...went down the next morning and purchased the gun....the timing was right!!!!

Sir, congratulations. Yo have performed a deed worthy of admiration. It saddens me however to think of the ones left to their fate. There was conjecture in the past regarding the stamping/numbering of parts prior to assembly to assist in production. This firearm dispells all such notions.

Question

Excellent!!!
Would someone please give me a little info?? What's the "K" date pistol??? I'm not familiar with this one. The "S"/42 looks different too. Is this a rare one??
Thanks

This is the first military Luger made by Mauser in 1934. Only about 10,000 made. Very desirable!!

The K date was a code used by the German military to signify 1934 production(they were hiding the fact that they were re-arming,hence the date codes...k=1934...g=1935)I do not know why the s/42 is different than later models...maybe thats just the way they made them then??...there were about 10,000 produced...fairly rare and collectible as they were the starting point of Mausers military Luger production...

Red face

What's wrong??? Something is unbelieveable...
I saw here in the luger-pic-gallery a K-date with the last two digits "57". It doesn't seem to be that gun descripted here. This here has the last digits 57. And my one has the number 5057, also the last digits 57. There are not much K-dates i ever saw pics of, maybe 5 or 6 here in the forum during the last two years, but three have the last digits 57. What's the matter of this???
