I don't think the generalization is entirely unfair, but early DWM Commercials are extremely high quality fit and finish. The action of my M1900 Commercial shooter closes like the door on a Rolls-Royce. Simson and Kreighoff used the Erfurt tooling used to make WWI guns, also producing very fine weapons from equipment, jigs, etc. formerly used to pump out military guns ASAP. A better generalization might not be from country to country, but wartime to peace.

In order to make such exquisite firearms, a requirement might have been the ability to back up to a wall and pull out a brick.
