the federal $$$ ended 7-31-20--yesterday....
those hooligans previously featured on our tv's will not likely take this sitting down......their $$$ supply, except for those with trust funds, will go to "0" very quickly.......expectations locally are that looting and other bad behavior will be forthcoming at an increased level......the money they have been receiving will need to be replaced from some source.....therefore the aforementioned expectations.....our local law enforcement is on increased alert....be careful out there.....

Come on Tom, most of the people who received the Federal checks that seem to bother you so much lost their jobs through no fault of their own and are now in danger of losing their homes as well.

I have the pleasure of knowing Tom on a more personal level.
I always thought it a coincidence that he lived in a town that shared his surname. Tom is in a position to know a LOT about what is really happening in a battlefield town like Austin. Tom is a Criminal Defense Attorney, and as such, I'm sure he is on the front-line of this battle going on, ... unabated daily. As always anymore it seems, ... the Courthouse is the focal point of this battle. While I have never asked, I'm sure he has a LOT of hair-raising stories he could tell about his "Clients". I'm also sure that he has a close working relationship with the local LEOs, and is well informed, more so than any of us uninformed "Civilians" living our lives in relative peace while Locked Down. |

Not being judgemental on how we got here..it's where we are and no denying it. The true reality and desperation of the situation IS upon us and the warning Tom alerts us to is a wise one IMO. Homes, cars, boats trailers, credit cards. A financial adjustment is going to hit this country as hard or worse than covid. To think otherwise is stinking thinkin. To think the Federal Govt. can bail us out forever is the same. All of this points to danger. Of course this condition is ever present but I think the situation is on a little different plane than ever before my 70 years experience. Like a boy scout. Be prepared. Better to have it and not need it.

Interestingly, a fair number of those checks helped people buy firearms in the current rush. I heard those comments repeatedly at the local gun store I assist.

Just glad I am retired and got an additional decent VA comp.
I am relatively unaffected by all this. It certainly is short sighted to focus on a relatively small number of miscreants when vast numbers if folks are without employment. A good many of them had jobs that no longer exist. Those are the Americans needing attention and whatever help they get. Raise your sights. |

Tom
You are correct there are a few idiots causing problems. Just remember they are in the minority. If you don't think these checks are needed come up to Western Montana. These are hardworking ,mostly veterans ,with families. They do more work before sunrise than desk people do all day. As Norm stated they didn't create this. Do not mix the small minority with the large majority. Bill

Don't really like political stuff on the forum - although I agree (to an extent) with Tom - and others
But its a time to be careful, seems everyone is ready to get pissed and pull a gun or run you over. Be careful, stay out of high scary areas (riots, demonstrations, large crowds) - its a weird world right now. Where I live, folks are not too worried about Covid, although we have 4,000 cases in my direct area (Spokane, I am 25 miles north of there) but there were SEVEN deaths over the weekend, sounds small, but I sure don't need to bring it into my house. Neighbors had a shinding at their house Sunday (again), about 30 cars. While today, a stranger drove up my neighbors driveway (1/4 miles drive, asked for directions) - I plan on being careful the next few weeks, lock my car and keep watch... |
