Crown-over-N generally indicates that it was manufactured for the commercial sales market, not under a military contract.

The C/N is a civilian proof marking, military arms were marked with an Eagle- DWM and Erfurt eagles(WWI) were slightly different, as were the later Weimar, and third Reich eagles.

Ed, that Luger you have is in my opinion in great condition considering it's age. In Southern California it would sell for $1500 - $1800. 9mm would of course bring more money. After all, how many are there to choose from? Good grief, I was in a gun shop last week and felt dizzy after reading the prices on new pistols. Over $750 before taxes for a Ruger single six 22. I can see why they are producing a model made out of silly putty priced at $200. Used S&W Chiefs in 38 in well worn condition priced at over $800. Is our money becoming becoming what it was in the Wiemar Republic?

Mister Sunshine,
No the money isn’t going Weimar on us, it’s California laws artificially inflating prices for you.
