In the not so distant past, the only legal way to own a deactivated hand gun without a permit, was to have it cut in half lenghtwise. This halfling was mounted in a shabby display case when I got it.
The idea was to clean up and expose the innards so I removed it from the case, cleaned up the cuts and finally found time to knock up a stand for it. This is one of those 1980s Chinese C96's. They used a combination of surplus Mauser parts and newly built semi auto frames with removeable magazines. The 7,63mm barrels were rebored to 9mm. Due to tolerance issues they had repeating issues. So no colllectable C96 was harmed. Cutting it in half saved it from the smelter ![]() |
