It is possible, although many times people call it blood pitting and it was just damp. In the sense that some folks will say it will rust them almost immediately and a few folks ave tested it with human blood and said that it didn't rust immediately (he was a key figure in the Japanese collectors association), he said that he used a number of blued objects - barrels, parts etc and he smeared blood from them samples taken from diabetes testing (so imagine it was spread over many days) and he left it on for like a week or two.
Another collector did it with deer blood and results were about the same, eventual staining and if long enough pitting. There are no pictures, and we'd love to see them, close up and full side views. My feeling is that if blood it was because it was left on for possibly days or longer in the holster. Especially where you state, it sounds like normal holster wear, but pictures would help.. ---- HS military - is that high standard military?
