Default dove tail angle....

Hi Rich, hopefully, Olle can jump in here as he cuts most of my dovetails, Or Don, either does a great job...
The sight blades I just had manufactured were take directly fro the original print and then reconfigured to compensate for the additional dimension height needed?
So, I sent 3 sample original barrels with perfect or un-used front sight blocks / dovetails..
Also sent the updated print from the Luger 1913 blueprint drawings
And three original uninstalled standard 4" barrel sight blades... They did all the retro engineering and modifications, (tooling fee, not cheap!)
They are perfect in fit and form... not going to last long... Best to you Rich, til...lat'r.....GT....

Some time ago, Olle discussed the sight dovetail and finally Olle found a company selling a cutter small enough and close enough to cut the dovetail. The prints do not show the angle in degrees; you have to work it out with trig tables. Then convert to degrees. And since tolerances enter into it, there can be more than one correct angle. But not too many correct cutters for the guy who likes to screw it up himself.

I just wondered what you had settled on.

It would be nice to find a dovetail cutter that would allow for one cut and done.

Default Hi Rich....

Actually, they did have me sign off on the degree tolerance as special cutters would have to be ordered to do the exact spec? It was a degree on way or the other, but still within the tolerances on the print.... I'll let you know if I come across it, but it was a total of 1 degree different then the print... they fit great, so whatever they did, they did it right... ... best to you, til....lat'r.....GT

Default Hello to all, .300" on the way!

Hi to all, the next batch of Luger front sight blades made in a height of .300" are completed and on the way to us now! They will be available very soon! I will advise as we progress...
Two other original heights are still coming, and they are .200" and .225" which are both standard somewhere throughout Luger production history.... So, bottom line, very soon... you will be able to purchase front sight blades that run in five sizes..
.200" original style
.225" original style revised
.250" tall
.275" taller
.300" tallest
Please contact Lugerdoc here on the forum to order, or pre-order if you desire one of the one still coming.. best to all, til....lat'r....GT

Default Sights, sights, sights!

All the sizes listed in the above post are now complete and being shipped... I did get some of the original .200" made as well, might as well as long as the machine is running! Luger doc will take it from here.. all inquiries should be made to him... Height, quantity, etc. etc...
The main reason for them in my shop will be to sight in any of the GTS/T barrels now in the works! Best to all, I'm going to retire to the workshop for awhile... lot's to do... Best to all, and a Merry upcoming Christmas to my forum family and friends, til...lat'r....GT...
