WWI Category
Thinking of adding a WWI category to my LUGER Collection....
I need some advice as to which BASIC pieces to get first I've already set aside a 1912 ERFURT... Local market is plentifull with 1915/16/17 & 1918 DWMs, Arty's are scarce and so are nice ERFURTS...Pre-WWI pistols are even harder to find, but I could have an opportunity on a 1913... Thank you kidvett |

This subject had been referenced before in concentrating on a collection theme. There is too much stuff and too much interest. This is where specificity becomes a factor. Imperial pre WWI? Imperial pre WWI & WWI? Imperial WWI only?Imperial pre WWI,WWI, and WWI guns converted to commercial? Erfurts or DWMs or both? What is the availablity in your area? Artillerys? Complete rigs? How much room do you have for storage? Not an easy choice. Will you pass up a deal on one that's not in your collection area if the price & condition are excellent? Not easy to do.

With my limited knowledge, I'll try to lay down what I think should be the basic pieces to include in a WWI Category:
1908 Model ( 1st model adopted by the German Army ): * one by DWM * one by ERFURT 1914 Model: * a DWM ( lets say a 1917 over a 1918 as production was lower in 17 ) * an ERFURT A NAVY: if it can be found at a reasonable price An ARTILLERY Rig ( including a SNAIL DRUM ) I do agree to the fact that one has to be specific as to what he collects.... This layout is just what I think would be the minimum representing WWI LUGERS..... kidvett |
