I nearly did buy that one too!
I'm really trying to "hold the line" and not collect Mauser made lugers- there is just no end to them; even at that I have a couple "examples".

I do like those 4" Navy lugers for sure!

what is the story on the weimar looking eagle on the back?

i must admit that was new to me?

I'm glad you didn't buy it lol. I plan on buying one luger for every year from 34 to 42. Next will probably be a krieghoff.

It's on the front strap. It's proof marks pistols got that were to be shipped to the navy. 300 k dates were made and 700 g dates.

Uncommon, but not unheard of. Jan has one in one of his books, and another was on the other Luger board last year. Same Eagle/M and pretty close in N number, all on the front strap.

I did a double take the first time I saw one, with question marks floating over my head. I was just accustomed to the Weimar era Anchor/M on the back of Nordsee Lugers. Live and learn.

It would be nice if it had one of these! You are right! Jan has 2 in Weimar, page 224 and 225, both DWM~Compliments of George Anderson~
